Did you know that when we breath oxygen, it interacts with certain molecules in our bodies to create free radicals and that these free radicals damage significant cellular structures such as DNA and cell membranes?  Well, it is true and this damage may cause cells to function poorly and mutate.  Free radical damage may lead to disease and aging.

We are exposed to giant amounts of free radicals from pollution, and insecticides.  Each time you breathe, you’re taking in millions of free radical molecules made by cig smoke, radiation, and car emissions.  Each time you eat, you consume free radicals in the form of pesticides and additives.

This is where antioxidants come in.  Our bodies have a natural defense system against these free radicals.  Our immune system creates antioxidants which can neutralise free radicals and prevent much cellular damage.  We also need antioxidants from alternative sources such as fruits, veggies, nuts, grains, some meat, chickens and fish.

I bet you may recognize these antioxidants : vitamin E, C and beta carotene ( a sort of vitamin A.  Others include luetin, lycopene, magnesium, and zinc.

There has been much talk about antioxidants stopping heart problems which is so lethal that it leads to a mean of one death every 34 seconds.  The American Heart Association asserts, ?Oxidation of low-density lipoprotein ( LDL or “bad” ) cholesterol is important in the development of greasy buildups in the arteries.  This process, called atherosclerosis ( ath”er-o-skleh-RO’sis ), can lead to heart attacks and strokes.  Enlarging evidence proves that LDL cholesterol lipoprotein oxidation and its biological effects can be stopped by employing antioxidants — both in the diet and in supplements.?  In 1993, Harvard school analysts reported that supplemental batches of vitamin E essentially reduced the risk of coronary disease by as much as 54 percent!

And what effects can antioxidants have on the big ?C?  Word?  This is a question that each one of us are dying to understand since one Yankee in every 3 living today will get cancer, and one in four will expire from it.  The nation’s Cancer Institute announces, ?Considerable laboratory proof from chemical, cell culture, and animal studies reveals that antioxidants may slow or possibly stop the development of cancer.  However, information from recent clinical trials is less clear.?  Selenium, an antioxidant mineral can help protect against breast cancer.  One expert, Dr.  Gerhard Schrauzer of the college of California at San Diego, said “If each lady in America began taking selenium additions or had a high-selenium diet, then within a few years the breast cancer rate in this country would drastically decline.  And according to a study by Dr.  Larry Clark of the school of Arizona, two hundred micrograms daily of selenium cut the rate of prostate trouble by 69% and lung cancer by 34%.

So obviously antioxidants are important for all of us to brace and protect our immune systems and to help guard against illness.  Antioxidants may even help us live longer.  The concept is that if free radical damage causes aging, antioxidants in high enough quantities should be in a position to slow aging.  This concept is sophisticated in one California study of folk aged 50 or older, where it was discovered that those “…  With a higher intake of vitamin C were discovered to possess a total rate of mortality only 40% of that for those with the lower intake of C …  This decrease in the rate of mortality corresponds to an increase by eleven years in the length of life.” Even little quantities of vitamin C can be useful.  According to one UCLA study only three hundred milligrams a day can add six years to a man’s life and 2 years to a girl’s life.

Antioxidants are made naturally by your body but reinforcement from food or alternative sources is required.  The highest concentrations of antioxidants are found in the most extraordinarily or brightly colored vegetables and fruit like spinach, red bell peppers, raspberries, carrots, apricots, pomegranates, and tomatoes.

Knowing what causes age spots is critical for you to prevent the appearance of age spots on your skin.  As the wise men of the olden days evangelise : prevention is way better than cure.

Do not wait for age spots to start appearing on your skin because by that point it’ll be too late.  Age spots do not develop and appear overnite.  It really takes years for them to develop and manifest on your skin.  It implies that when some spots materialize, more will follow.  This fact makes it vital for you to devise a preventative scheme.

What Causes Age Spots

Aging doesn’t cause age spots although age spots often manifest on the skin of older girls.  As I have mentioned earlier, age spots take a bit of time to manifest on the skin.  The makings for age spots are amassing on the skin and the progression of time is necessary for age spots to ultimately show up and materialize.

Age spots develop thanks to the body’s overproduction of melanin.  Melanin is the skin’s coloring pigments.  This indicates that the natural color of your skin is influenced by the amount of melanin produced by your body.  Melanin is critical for the protection of the skin from the damaging aftermath of ultraviolet rays.

The color of your skin decides the skin’s capacity to resist the consequences of ultraviolet rays.  The lighter the color of your skin, the more willing it is to cancer.  To digress a little , if you are dark and hating it, you must start embracing your color as it is really more of a present than a curse.

When the skin is exposed to ultraviolet rays, whether from plain old sunbathing or tanning machines, the body reacts instinctively to protect the skin from damage by producing more melanin.  The older you get, the longer your skin is exposed to the sun by accumulation.  The body’s production of melanin also adds up.  The melanin in your skin, for unexplainable reasons, stick together.  When there is clumping of melanin, such area of the skin tends to become darker in color compared to the rest.  This is why age spots or liver spots appear.

Preventive Action

Since what causes age spots is ascribed to ultraviolet rays and the body’s reaction to it, it is vital for you to prevent overexposure to sources of UV rays.  The sun is naturally the most obvious source of ultraviolet rays.  The tanning machines also emit ultraviolet rays.  Therefore, for those using tanning machines to get a tan without sun exposure, your skin is still being exposed to ultraviolet rays.

Take note that I mentioned overexposure.  Ultraviolet rays are vital for the body’s absorption of Vitamin D.  Vitamin D is necessary for your bone growth and anti-tumor activity, if you do not desire these critical processes to be compromised, occasional exposure to the sun is recommended.

Avoid what causes age spots.  When you reveal your skin to the sun, use sun protection lotions or creams.  These lotions will shield your skin from direct contact with UV rays.  As such, it can stop your body from instinctively producing more melanin.  Sun protection lotions or creams are not enough.  Make it sure that you continually apply skin care products that contain Cynergy TK, Coenzyme Q10, Phytessence Wakame and Manuka Honey to counter the other consequences of UV rays such as skin cell damage and dry skin.

And to help get more clear and younger looking skin, I want to share with you one anti aging skin care range of products that I found.  They contain more active ingredients than any other cream on the market.  These ingredients are effective moisturizers, because they penetrate extraordinarily to “nourish” the skin.  So, they never feel greasy.

However, from the time of its inception in the year 1993 till the present A4M has done a lot to promote anti aging medicine and deserves credit for its efforts.

How many times have your heard drink eight to 10 glasses of water everyday?  How frequently do we really drink that much pure water?

Would you suspect that as you are reading the current page you are dehydrating?  We were all born as grapes, but now we’re turning into raisins.  Your body was once more than seventy percent water and now, if you are like most US citizens past the age of forty, you are fortunate to have a hydration level above 60%.  The bodies of most hospitalized aged are less than fifty percent water.

Today, north Americans consume more coffee and soft drinks than water.  These beverages, along with tea and alcohol, are diuretics and dehydrate the body.  All the moisturizer in the world won’t restore a youthful appearance.  By dehydrating your body you are basically pulling a hundred times as much water out of your skin thru the urinary tract.  Much worse than the skin dehydrating, is the dehydration of the internal organs, connecting tissue and the brain.

Inadequate fluid intake and excess water loss can interrupt vital cell function.  Most of the people experience this level of hydration all day, nearly each day.  Water is essential for all anabolic correct functions, and conversely, dehydration accelerates the process of aging.
A study at Fred Hutchinson Research Center in Seattle discovered that girls who drank two glasses of water a day had just about twice the danger of bowel cancer than women who drank 4 glasses a day.  The few ladies who did drink 8 or more cups of water a day had less than half the chance of people who drank only four glasses.  The association of increased water intake may also scale back the risk for other types of cancer.  In one study, the ladies who drank the most water were 80% less sure to develop bladder cancer than ladies who drank the least.  Other conditions that regularly respond to increased water intake include the reduction of headaches, muscle aches, hangovers, fatigue, bowel obstruction, and heartburn.  Drinking enough water will also reduce fluid retention and edema.  Sometimes it is hard for folk to understand that drinking lots of water actually decreases water retention.  If you provide your body with adequate amounts of pure water, it won’t have to retain water in the tissues The body can become noticeably dehydrated before we feel thirsty.

In the morning, you have got a true need for water, but you may not feel it.  For most folk, the 1st liquid they consume is coffee, a drink that sucks the water out of our cells.

Try this test : Before you drink or eat anything in the morning, sip about four oz. of water-no more.  You’ll be shocked to see that in 2 - 3 mins your mouth will feel parched.  Drink another four oz and in two to three mins you will be thirsty again.  You may have to copy this six or more times before you are no longer thirsty.  Add up all of the four-ounce servings that you consumed, and you will discover your body’s true metabolic need for water.
